A Dual-Band Circularly Polarized Elliptical Patch Reflectarray Antenna for High-Power Microwave Applications

The demand for multi-band high-power antennas, which have been rarely reported, becomes urgent in microwave field. To meet the demand, a C/X dual-band circularly polarized patch reflectarray antenna is proposed this paper. Two main technologies are adopted to make realize feature. Firstly, elliptical with no abrupt structure be reflecting element mitigate electric field concentration. Secondly, patches embedded into substrate avoid triple junction. designed by arranging two different sizes square lattice grid. larger operates C-band and smaller one works X-band. rotated continuous 360 ° phase response both bands. By optimizing thickness of substrate, spacing, size patches, shows good reflection amplitude low mutual coupling performance. An prototype aperture 345 mm ×345 simulated measured. measured radiation results agreement simulations gain at 6.2 GHz 24.6 dBi, 9.3 27.8 dBi. Full-wave show that power capacity about 10.2 MW, 3.9 MW air condition. performance verified level array level. All has merits capacity, dual-band, coupling.
